MLB Power Rankings for June 27nd-July 4th 2015
1) St. Louis Cardinals (51-28): Last Week’s Ranking: 1
Despite their current four game losing skid, the Cardinals are once again the top dog in this week’s MLB power rankings and enjoy a 6 game lead in the NL Central.
2) Houston Astros (48-34): Last Week’s Ranking: 3
The red hot Astros creep up one spot in this week’s power poll thanks to a five game winning streak.
3) Kansas City Royals (45-32): Last Week’s Ranking: 2
The Royals have played .500 baseball in their last ten games but still maintain the top spot in the super competitive AL Central.
4) Pittsburgh Pirates (45-34): Last Week’s Ranking: 6
With division leading St. Louis finally hitting a slump, now is a golden opportunity for Pittsburgh to make up some ground.
5) Los Angeles Dodgers (45-36): Last Week’s Ranking: 5
Slugging first baseman Adrian Gonzalez has been the Dodgers’ most consistent hitter this season with a team leading 49 runs batted in thus far.
6) Washington Nationals (44-36): Last Week’s Ranking: 7
Youngster Bryce Harper is having a monster year as he has already set a new career high with 24 home runs so far this season.
7) New York Yankees (43-37): Last Week’s Ranking: 11
Catcher Brian McCann sent Yankees’ fans home happy with a walk off home run in extra innings against division rival Tampa Bay.
8) Chicago Cubs (42-36): Last Week’s Ranking: 8
Unconventional Cubs’ manager Joe Maddon hopes bringing a magician into the clubhouse will help lighten the mood and make Chicago’s recent slump disappear.
9) LA Angels (42-38): Last Week’s Ranking: 14
Following major upheaval in their front office, the Angels are finally rounding into shape with seven wins in their last ten games.
10) Minnesota Twins (42-38): Last Week’s Ranking: 9
Having split the first two of a four game set with Kansas City, the second place Twins look to make up ground in the AL Central this Independence Day weekend.

This Independence Day, the Giants try to stop their four game funk against the NL East leading Washington Nationals.

The Blue Jays have as good a shot as anybody to win the AL East as they stand just two games behind the pace.
14) Tampa Bay Rays (42-40): Last Week’s Ranking: 4
Tampa Bay plummets out of the top ten following a brutal six game losing streak, the longest active streak in the majors.
15) Detroit Tigers (40-39): Last Week’s Ranking: 15
With a .500 record in their last ten games, the Detroit Tigers appear to be stuck in neutral.

After a great start to their season, the Amazins’ have continued to look fairly mediocre since the start of June.

Despite being in last place in the AL East, Boston remains just seven games out of first place.
26) Oakland Athletics (37-46): Last Week’s Ranking: 23
After a recent hot streak, Oakland is back to their losing ways with the worst record in the American League.
27) Miami Marlins (35-46): Last Week’s Ranking: 28
Despite losing franchise player Giancarlo Stanton to a broken wrist, Miami has put together a four game winning streak.
28) Colorado Rockies (34-46): Last Week’s Ranking: 26
The dismal Rockies are on a three game losing streak and have lost seven of their last ten.
29) Milwaukee Brewers (34-48): Last Week’s Ranking: 29
Who would have ever thought that the Brew Crew would produce six consecutive wins at any point this season. This is major league baseball’s longest active winning.
30) Philadelphia Phillies (27-55): Last Week’s Ranking: 30
Riding a five game losing streak and being a whopping 18 games out of first place leaves no doubt that Philadelphia is by far and away the worst team in major league baseball.
